The 2023-24 Topps Chrome Basketball set features a total of 190 cards, showcasing a blend of current stars, top rookies from the season, and a selection of retired legends.
Licensed by the NBA Players Association, this set highlights prominent players, though it does not include team logos or full pro uniforms due to Panini’s exclusive NBA deal.
Key Highlights:
– Base Cards: Each base card has nearly 30 different Refractor variations. These primarily feature color-based designs, with additional Geometric versions available in breaker box configurations and basketball background parallels in retail packs.
– Autographs: The checklist is heavy on autographs, including Topps Chrome Autographs, Certified Rookie Autographs, and retail-exclusive Certified Autographs. Notably, this set includes on-card autographs of Victor Wembanyama, who, due to his Fanatics exclusive deal, does not appear in Panini products this year.
– LeBron James: This release marks only LeBron James’ second set with an autograph under his Fanatics exclusive deal, following a one-of-one dual autograph with his son Bronny James from the 2023-24 Bowman Chrome University Basketball set.
– Hall of Famers: Autographs from basketball legends such as Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Shaquille O’Neal are also featured.
– Inserts: The set includes vibrant and eye-catching inserts like Coast to Coast, Destiny, Finesse, Season’s Best, and Youthquake. Each hobby box is expected to contain one of each of these inserts.
– SSP Inserts: A selection of tough-to-find SSP inserts such as Exposé, Superfly, Let’s Go, Helix, Radiating Rookies, and Rock Stars are also included.
